DIY Mason Vases

Need a simple, affordable centerpiece that costs next to nothing? This is my take on the classic, "flowers in a vase" centerpiece. If you made the Mason Jar Lanterns from my previous blog post, the step-by-step process will be similar. Simply, collect your sauce jars. Apply 2 coats of Valspar frosting spray paint, which can be found at any hardware store, (Or, re-use the lanterns, by removing the LED light string). Once the jars are dry, choose the best bouquet of flowers that suits your taste.

I found that Trader Joe's has a great selection of flowers

, for little money. A single bouquet can cost as low as $3.99. For this display, I purchased two bouquets. Each bouquet comes with "flower food". Simply mix the food with water & fill the jar about half-way. Then, cut the length of the flowers to a size that will proportionally fit into each jar.

For accessories, I found metal, chalkboard placeholders for $6.99 each. Customize them with any message that best fits your dining occasion. I chose "Friends are Family," and "Love to Eat," but the possibilities are endless.
