Stained Glass Featuring "Light My Bottle"

With Spring approaching, move your entertaining outdoors! Whether you live in a house, condo, or townhome, there's plenty of opportunity to dress up your deck, patio, or backyard oasis. And the best part? It's simple, colorful, and affordable!

Start by collecting wine bottles that were used from previous dinner parties or social engagements. Once you have the desired amount, go to your local Michael's Crafts Store, and purchase "Gallery Glass: Window Color." They have several colors to choose from. I went with the following colors: Aqua (17049), Amber (16020), and Emerald Green (16009).

Using wax paper for your work surface, apply the paint to each bottle by "dabbing" it with a "Mod Podge Spouncer," which is also available at Michael's. The spouncer needs very little paint, when applying to the bottle's surface. And REMEMBER, you do not need to apply any water before coating the spouncer with paint.

Simply coat the bottom of the spouncer with a small amount of paint, and dab it, repeatedly to the surface of the wine bottle. Please use the photos for reference. I recommend letting the paint dry overnight, but if you're in a rush, let it sit for a couple of hours, and you should be good to go.

In addition to painting the wine bottles, which will house the "Light My Bottle" fairy lights, I also painted milk bottles I found at the Dollar Tree. Coordinate the colors for the wine bottles with the milk bottles. This way, you can either fill the milk bottles with white sand (as a filler), and top it with the flowers of your choice. OR, once you've inserted the "Light My Bottle" fairy lights into the wine bottles, turn the milk bottles upside down, and insert them over the stem of each matching wine bottle.

Assembling the "Light My Bottle" Fairy Lights:

It's very simple, and the directions are on the back of its package.

Step 1: Remove the battery compartment cover, and Insert 3 AAA batteries.

Step 2: Plug the fairy light string into the female plug jack receptacle, which can be found at the bottom of the battery holder.

Step 3: Insert fairy light string and battery holder into each wine bottle. Then, all that's left is pushing down on the top to turn on/off each "Light My Bottle." How easy is that?

Once you've assembled each "Light My Bottle," you're ready to display your vintage, stained decor for entertaining! And the best part? You can mix and match the bottles in any combination you see fit! My motto is: Be as unique and creative with the display! There is no right or wrong way to showcase these beautiful wine bottles!
